Suzhou Urban Geological Information Platform won the Gold Award for Excellent Geographical Engineering

As a pilot city for geological survey in Jiangsu Province, Suzhou started carrying out urban geological survey work in 2009. The "Suzhou Urban Geological Information Management and Service System" developed by Wuhan Zhongdi Digital Technology Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Jiangsu Geological Survey Research Institute has passed expert evaluation in 2012 and won the 2013 China Geographic Information Industry Excellent Engineering Gold Award.

The reporter learned from Jiangsu Geological Survey and Research Institute that the system consists of Suzhou City Urban Geological Data Management and Maintenance Subsystem, Suzhou City Urban Geological Data Analysis and Evaluation Subsystem, Suzhou City Urban Geological Data Sharing and Publishing Subsystem, including data management and maintenance, evaluation and modeling, as well as information sharing services and decision support based on MapGIS IGServer technology. By utilizing database technology, GIS technology, and 3D visualization technology, with MapGIS K9 as the basic platform, and relying on the results of 3D geological structure survey, combined with the special needs of Suzhou urban geological survey, data management and result display based on 3D geological structure have been achieved, and the acquisition, database construction and management, and geological data analysis of 3D urban geological data have been integrated throughout the entire project process. Through information technology, we have further developed the rapid response capability of urban geology to serve urban planning, construction, and management, innovated the expression form of urban geological survey results, and formed a new mode of urban geological work.

Since the completion of the project, four main achievements have been made: firstly, by collecting geological information, the Suzhou Urban Geological Data Center has been established to effectively manage relevant data and information; The second is to successfully establish a geological professional work platform, providing visual processing and professional analysis of various professional data; Thirdly, a three-dimensional urban geological structure model of Suzhou has been established; Fourthly, it provides information sharing and services for government departments and the general public in a B/S manner.

At the same time, the system has also made two breakthroughs: firstly, it has established eight specialized databases, realizing the integrated organization and management of massive geological data such as basic geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, geochemistry, land subsidence, and geological spatial data from different periods and departments in Suzhou City. This not only provides support for the information sharing of subsequent geological data, but also provides a platform for data sharing among various functional departments. Secondly, significant innovations have been made in key technologies such as professional map assisted generation, custom construction of evaluation models, interface technology for groundwater professional software, rapid modeling technology based on stratigraphic zoning maps, and rapid modeling based on geological map occurrence information.

As the project leader and director of the Environmental Geology Research Institute of Jiangsu Geological Survey and Research Institute, Gong Xulong stated in an interview with reporters that compared with similar domestic projects (Shanghai and Guangzhou urban geology projects), the innovation of some key technologies in this system is also remarkable, and even some functions that have not been achieved in other similar projects have been realized.

The integrated management strategy of 2D and 3D based on data centers has changed the previous situation of separate processing of 2D and 3D data, making 2D and 3D data treated equally in terms of data modeling, data management, data visualization, and data integration, truly realizing the deep level application of 2D and 3D spatial data; The use of template customization technology allows users to edit and create the style of a certain type of bar chart and save it. By selecting the desired style template, the bar chart is automatically generated, solving the problem of solidifying the bar chart style in the program that users cannot freely customize. It provides multiple flexible editing methods; The application of evaluation model construction technology can address the complex evaluation needs of the geological profession. Starting from the establishment and management of evaluation models, it provides tools for customizing and managing multiple professional evaluation models, allowing professional users to customize evaluation models or expand existing analytical evaluation models in the model library; Fully utilizing the advantages of MapGIS platform in data collection, editing, attribute management, visualization, and storage, seamlessly supporting VM (the world's most widely used 3D groundwater flow model) file loading, and establishing groundwater numerical simulation data models, creating relevant 2D and 3D GIS objects, efficiently leveraging the numerical simulation calculation advantages of VM and the data management and visualization advantages of MapGIS, providing more powerful tools for hydrogeologists.

In addition, relying on the MapGIS IGSS 3D large-scale 3D GIS platform, the system has established for the first time a 3D structural model of bedrock geology, Quaternary geology, engineering geology, and hydrogeology in Suzhou City. By adopting a "framework+plugin" architecture, it realizes efficient storage and management of massive, multi-source, heterogeneous surface and underground artificial spatial entities, geological bodies and other 3D spatial entity models, as well as their spatial positions and topological relationships, bringing the traditional era of simple manual or tool mapping into a new generation of multi-dimensional visualization GIS based on the new generation The platform has strong interactivity, visibility, and a certain level of intelligence in the digital, information-based, and three-dimensional digital era, effectively assisting professionals in evaluating the overall planning of Suzhou City and providing a basis for evaluating the suitability of the geological environment for underground space development, achieving a new leap in geological survey support for government management and decision-making.

At present, the system has been officially put into operation at the Suzhou Land and Resources Bureau, and a daily maintenance and update mechanism for the information system has been established. Next, the system will gradually integrate with "Digital Suzhou" and "Smart Suzhou" to achieve data interoperability and ultimately achieve seamless integration. Thus, it provides decision-making basis for urban planning, construction, and underground space development in Suzhou, and provides geological resource guarantee for geological environment protection, disaster prevention, and urban development.
